The International Youth Alliance for Family Planning (IYAFP) is a global leader in the field of sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice for youth, by youth. As an organization that prides itself on integrity, transparency and justice, we are releasing this statement to publicly announce the official termination of the Nigeria Country Coordinator, as well as the official closure of the Nigeria Country Chapter, which occurred in January of 2021.
In December 2020, fraudulent activities were discovered within the Nigeria Country Chapter. After an internal investigation process conducted by IYAFP, substantial evidence of fraudulent activities in concomitance with several members of the Chapter were uncovered and immediate actions had to be taken.
At IYAFP, we are working with exemplary, committed and integrity-filled youth, to advance sexual and reproductive health, rights and justice for all young people, and we regret believing that our Nigeria Country Coordinator was one of them.
We strongly condemn these actions and officialy state that IYAFP dissociates from the individual(s) involved in these activities. If you have reason to believe that suspicious activities are occurring in Nigeria under the name of IYAFP, please report them immediately to partnershipa[at]iyafp.org, and note that they do not in any way represent, nor are they associated with the organization. IYAFP would like to make it clear that since its founding, the organization has only been registered in the United States of America.
