Young advocates, community leaders, government representatives, and climate justice activists from all corners of the globe converged at COP28 to continue ongoing climate negotiations to address the current climate crisis. IYAFP was present at COP28 too and with a clear purpose: to amplify the voices of youth demanding a world where climate justice and sexual and reproductive health, rights, and justice (SRHRJ) go hand-in-hand.

IYAFP took this opportunity to launch a Youth Declaration on SRHR and Climate Justice. This document, crafted through a collaborative effort with young human rights defenders around the world, is a powerful testament to the intersectionality of these critical issues. It lays bare the stark reality: climate change disproportionately impacts young people’s access to SRHRJ, jeopardizing their health, well-being, and futures.

The declaration is not just a statement of the problem; it’s a call to immediate action. We call upon NGOs, governments, and youth-led organizations to stand with us. Signing on to the declaration is more than a symbolic gesture – it’s a commitment to working together to dismantle the systems that perpetuate these injustices. It’s about ensuring that young people, particularly those most marginalized, have the resources and agency to protect their bodily autonomy and build a more just and sustainable world.

This is a movement built on the power of collective action. By joining forces, we can amplify the voices of young people on the frontlines of climate change and the fight for SRHRJ. We can hold decision-makers accountable and demand concrete action to address the interconnected crises we face.

The IYAFP’s Climate Justice and SRHRJ Declaration is more than just a piece of paper; it’s a blueprint for a more equitable future. Will you join us in making it a reality? Read the declaration, learn more about the issues, and add your voice to the movement. Together, we can create a world where all young people have the right to a healthy planet, healthy bodies, and a bright future.
