IYAFP’s Youth Declaration on Climate Justice and SRHRJ
In a world grappling with the multifaceted challenges of climate change, ensuring the continuity of vital services like youth-friendly family planning becomes paramount. This IYAFP project funded and supported by Panorama Global has two goals: to safeguard uninterrupted access to family planning services amid the climate crisis and to foster solidarity among youth-led organizations advocating for reproductive health and climate action.
At its core, this initiative aims to address the intricate nexus between climate resilience, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and family planning. By recognizing and tackling these interlinkages, the project seeks to champion a holistic approach that prioritizes the rights, health, and well-being of individuals and communities, particularly young women, in the face of the current climate crisis.
Youth Consultations
3 consultations (in English, French, and Spanish) were conducted as the first step in the Youth Declaration drafting process. With the support of IYAFP members, these consultations convened young people from the family planning and climate fields together. After the consultations, based on all inputs received from young people, a Youth Declaration was drafted, edited, designed, and published on social media and IYAFP’s website.
Declaration Launch at COP28
IYAFP proudly launched the Youth Declaration on Climate Justice and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for Justice (SRHRJ) during COP28 in Dubai. This event marked a pivotal moment in the global movement for integrated solutions to climate and health challenges.
