Born in Saudi Arabia, Maryam completed primary and secondary education in Sudan, I then joined medical school at the University of Khartoum. She obtained a bachelor in Medicine and general surgery in 2014, followed by a masters degree in international health from the University of Parma, Italy. In 2015, she started working as a researcher in the WHO collaborating centre for maternal and child health, Italy.
During her work experience she has been exposed to a wide range of research and advocacy subjects in close collaborations with the World Health Organization. Her main branch of research encompasses both qualitative and quantitative research and spans epidemiological health research to qualitative interpretive research. Her research focus includes women and sexual and reproductive health.
