Christy Butcher is a postgraduate student of the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus where she is reading for a Master of Public Health degree with specialisation in Health Education/Health Promotion. She is very passionate about youth development and SRHR issues, especially as it pertains to adolescents and young adults. Prior to moving to Jamaica, she worked with the Ministry of Health in St. Lucia as a Health Educator/Health Promotion Officer. Through the Ministry, Christy began work with the Caribbean HIV/AIDS Alliance in 2012 where she worked with key populations facilitating SRHR training sessions, conducting HIV test drives, planning and coordinating WAD observance activities in her country. She is the current Caribbean Regional Focal Point for the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS (GYCA), where she has organized a team of National Focal Points to achieve the organisation’s mandate in the region. Christy continues to work with various national and regional organisations and groups geared towards sustainable community and youth development.
