Director of Projects

Your Role

  • Contribute to the identification, design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of IYAFP Country Coordinator-led community development projects
  • Work with IYAFP Country Coordinators to develop their community development project proposals and capacity-build around implementation skills (such as M&E, governance, accountability, sustainability, etc).
  • Collect reports, visuals, and indicators on individual projects
  • Build visibility and awareness for community development projects by developing public-facing summary reports, talking points and social media messages
  • Identify and create opportunities for partnering with a variety of organizations within IYAFP's community development projects
  • Work closely with the Director of Country Coordinators, Executive Director(s), and other relevant consultants to serve Country Coordinators and IYAFP leaders for successful implementation of their projects
  • Work closely with the Director of Operations to use the community development projects to reach out to the family planning donor community
  • Build a workflow around successful scoring, selection and processing of IYAFP community development projects (including ensuring compliance with OFAC)
  • Assess gaps and needs within Country Coordinators and IYAFP members regarding community development project programming and recommend and participate in capacity building plans and delivery.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive stream of rich information for each community development project is given to the marketing and communications staff in a regular and timely fashion.
  • Other duties as needed relevant to the position

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate/college degree required
  • Familiarity with M&E, project implementation, family planning
  • Demonstrated experience working with youth and family planning ininternational settings, including the facilitation of trainings and/or activities targeting youth
  • Experience leading or working on proposals and developing community development projects
  • A portfolio of work in family planning issues that includes project design and management
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing project implementation and monitoring programming
  • Knowledge of organizations in the family planning sector
  • Experience running an organization in the public arena
  • Conversance with M&E frameworks, indicator development, and research design
  • Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure and be able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail
  • Demonstrates work initiative and is able to finish tasks with little supervision

  • Available to meet with the Executive team on Saturdays every two weeks (typically 8am EST)

Director of Communications

Your role

  • The Executive member will take charge in developing and implementing a Strategic Communications Plan (both online and offline) and gaining IYAFP member buy-in and volunteers to implement the plan.
  • They have a duty to oversee the advocacy and communications efforts of the Alliance through social media and writing that creates stakeholder and member engagement.
  • As part of the Strategic Communications Plan, works with key stakeholders to create a comprehensive social media strategy/plan to use social media marketing tools and techniques that will increase visibility, membership and traffic, and will leverage family planning content and IYAFP programs to increase the organization's reach and audience participation.
  • Curates content and oversee the design of social media efforts, including a quarterly Newsletter summarizing the latest IYAFP activities, announcements, and events
  • Implements and manages social media programs to insure consistency and quality of content across all social media outlets.
  • Ensures compliance of social media content with IYAFP positions on relevant family planning issues and policy
  • Develops a social media strategy focused on informing, educating, and creating dialogues about family planning and SRHR access for youth
  • Integrates social media with IYAFP website
  • Creates and monitors website with IYAFP blog and manages a blogger outreach program
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures and best practices that insure consistency of voice across all of the social media channels that appropriately manage IYAFP's reputation
  • Determines which metrics are most appropriate to measure IYAFP's social media strategy and and reports on the effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results. Regularly provides feedback and data-driven insights gained from social media monitoring to evolve communication strategies in a timely fashion.
  • Spearheads new ways for IYAFP to communicate activities, facts, research, and campaigns to the public
  • Oversees all written communication that goes out to the public, including but not limited to info-graphics, social media messages, posters, and public-facing reports, and works in collaboration with Director of Operations to keep a consistent organizational brand

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate/college degree required

  • Familiarity with social media tools (Facebook, Twitter, Thunderclap, MailChimp, Instagram, Buffer/HootSuite and others, to name a few)
  • Demonstrated experience working with youth and family planning, including the facilitation of trainings and/or activities targeting youth

  • Established networks or knowledge of the family planning sector
